This is truly a place of hope because I now know I will have a better future. It is a place where I am given love, where I know that I am not alone and that I am important to someone. (Alejandro, age 16)

Teachers

We are extremely fortunate to rely on a teaching staff that has grown to be very adept in dealing with the great variety of needs experienced by our students.  Many are university students who attend classes in the evenings, and some are mothers of small children.  We have twenty-two teachers on staff in 2009, and all have shown a genuine affection for the well-being of the students in our program.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS:

Education and Hope is more than just the place that I work.  It’s where I have the opportunity to guide young men and women on an academic level as well as on a moral level.  Here, through advice and teaching, I have the opportunity to help create in them a better vision of themselves in the future.  (Jose Carlos Cancinos, teacher)

Education and Hope is like a second home where I have been given the opportunity to be a channel of blessings for my students.   It is a dream come true to be able to enjoy a stable job and experience the fullfillment of being a woman able to contribute economically in my home. (Lucky Oroxom, teacher)

More than just tutor my students, at Education and Hope I share experiences with them that have made me grow as a person and as a teacher.  I have learned to put myself in the place of many of the children that suffer from serious economic and social problems, and this has helped me to understand and value people in deeper ways.  (Maribel Rodas, teacher)
