Education and Hope is run by a strong team of people who possess unique talents and a shared sense of responsibility for the program’s success.  As director, I am quite often asked how well the program runs when I need to leave Guatemala in order to fundraise back in the U.S.  I think one of the secrets to Education and Hope’s great success is that many of our employees are intimately involved in our program; some are scholarship recipients themselves and some have children who receive scholarships.  As beneficiaries of the program they deeply identify with our mission and are sincerely committed to the program’s success.  The core group of families involved in Education and Hope are people I have known since the very beginning of my life in Guatemala, and our relationships precede the creation of the scholarship program.  Education and Hope grew out of my desire to give back to these families for all that they had shared with me.  If our atmosphere is family-like it is simply because we are like family!
